The outbreak of the Coronavirus reminds us that there are certain members of our society who are more vulnerable than others. \nAs of March 12, 2020, at least 31 people have died from the virus in the state and nearly all are associated with Life Care Center of Kirkland nursing home or four other long-term care facilities nearby, The Washington Post reports.

\n“He’s an imate,” said Scott Sedlacek, referring to his father, Chuck Sedlacek in a March 14th Associated Press story. His family worries that isolation is worse than the disease. “Loneliness kills a lot of people too. We think this is a license for death,” said his son, Scott.
\nLocally, state-wide, and federally, officials are calling nursing homes and senior-care facilities to ban visitors. According to The Washington Post article:
\n“Alarmed by the speed with which the virus is tearing through nursing homes, senior-living communities and other places that cater to the elderly, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) issued a proclamation Tuesday, requiring long-term care facilities limit visitors and screen workers. Nursing homes nationwide, as well as the Department of Veterans Affairs, the government agency that runs 134 of them, also adopted similar rules for sites where the elderly live. In an address to the nation Wednesday night, President Trump recommended that nursing homes suspend nonessential visits.”
